Question:
Black powder gun smoke in the Zapruder footage?

Many thanks for the answers on my previous derringer question, they were excellent.

Does the smoke that rises and drifts backwards in the following (graphic) Zapruder clip, suggest that a black powder derringer has been fired?

A much greater area of the foreheads of the men in front of JFK, is illuminated in the frame which shows the fatal shot. Could a muzzle/gun powder flash explain this?

No, that is NOT black powder smoke. It is more likely light on the film. And no way would the assassin use black powder firearm when modern cartridges are readily available even for all calibers of derringers.

No. Nothing associated with the assassination, including the Zapruder footage, suggests that a black powder derringer was fired.

As Lime said the red mist is gore. Or are you are talking about the black blob over Jackie's head that is there for 1/24th of a second and is gone the next? For one thing black power smoke is white and it lingers a long time. It appears just to be an artifact of the original physical media that it was originally filmed on. These artifacts appear to occur in several frame in various places on the clip.

Well its already been said black powder creates such a dense cloud of smoke nothing is visible but the smoke for a few seconds, it looks more like he was shot from the back and what you see in the front was blood and brain. And if he was shot from the front don't you think his head would have been pushed back instead of pushed forward like it was, like he was shot from the back.

In all honesty I don't believe in any of the Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories I believe Lee Harvey Oswald shot him or at least had something to do with it.

Nope. First off, I don't see ANYTHING in that film that could correspond to the amount of smoke related to a blackpowder discharge anywhere in or around that car.

Have you ever actually SEEN blackpowder discharged? EVER?

Dude, the dense cloud of smoke following a black powder discharge makes everything around that discharge obscured for a second. NOTHING in that film even comes close to that. Nothing.

That red mist you're seeing in front of kennedy's head is his blood, bone, and brains from the bullet impact. That's not smoke. That's gore.

Big difference.

I have no idea what you're referring to when you talk about smoke rising. I don't see any.

You have a car moving on a sunny day the light is going to change. Add to that that is a colorized version of the original video that is going to change lots of things.

And there was certainly no black powder involved.

Your "smoke" is what's called an "image artifact". Which is to say it was generated by some issue of recording the image or handling its media, rather than an actual real object which was recorded.

But your hypothesis entertains me, if only for the mental image of a time-travelling John Wilkes Booth that it conjures.

This explains your earlier question regarding derringers.

No.

Besides, further discussion isn't required. Red Dwarf's "Tikka to Ride" uncovered the truth and showed us WHO shot JFK. JFK shot himself!

"Yeah. It'll drive the conspiracy nuts crazy but, they'll never figure it out."--Lister to an alternate JFK, (w,stte), Red Dwarf, "Tikka to Ride").

I didn't see any smoke, just splattering brain matter/blood.
