I will be storing a handgun, jewelry, cash, and other valuables. I don't need a huge gun safe as I only have a pistol. Looking at Sentry Safes, unless it specifies a gun safe, it recommends not to store guns in their home safes. What can I do?

when you do get a safe a fire proof is the way to go.i looked for about a year before i decided in a john deere safe.it is a maroon like color and weighs about 600lbs .i have had as many as 21 rifles inside and it only took up half the safe.it has a small hole in the back for the wire of a humidifier.it works great in keeps the guns from rusting.
having said all that it will always boil down to how much you can afford.i paid $1100.safes the same size have cost a great deal more. dont just go fotr a brand name. you may be getting the same brand under another name.the bigger the safe the more they hold. also the bigger the more they cost.look at the locking and enforcing mechinisms, make sure they are strong and will withold someone from breaking into it.

Sentry Safes will work just fine. They make models you can have installed built into your wall, that can hold your Gun as well as your valuables,Camera, Cash, Jewelry etc.
As far as your gun is concerned all you need in addition is a desiccant moisture packs(Silica Gel Paks) that absorbs moisture so your Gun will not be damaged. These Silica Gel packs are small in size and inexpensive. They will prevent moisture, corrosion, etc and are re-usable. They suck up moisture like a sponge. They come in various sizes to suit your safe size. They can be purchased by calling Brownells at 1-800-741-0015 or online at Brownells.com (Gunsmithing, Gun parts and related products.
Note* They only recommend you not use the Sentry Safes because they don't come with any means to protect your gun from moisture damage. This is the only reason that they recommend you not use Sentry Safes for firearms..I have two myself that I have stored handguns in for over 15 years with no problems what-so-ever.Good Luck!

i have a 36 gun libety safe i like real well. im shopping for another right now also and not sure what i will buy next but i do know it will be BIG.also thinking of just building an in home vault, fireproof. then i wouldnt have so many safes cluttering up the house.any way thats me. you would do well to shop around and find a safe with a high fire resistance since you are mainly storing cash and jewelry. i think mine is suposed to survive 1800 deg for an hour. its made of 10 ga real heavy if i remember correctly is is 600 lbs aprox empty. and has real nice locking features and relockers if the lock is drilled out

Fort Knox makes an excellent safe. But they cost quite a bit. Another good safe can be had from Patriot Safe Co. they are good safes and very affordable. Sentry safes are probably the most affordable but usually have a lower fire rating and a less effective locking mechanisim

rather of deciding to purchase for one million super risk-free i bought 2 smaller gadgets and am chuffed I did. a chum of mine bought a BIGGY and has to have a gadget Mover in whilst he desires to relocate the unit. Admittedly that that would not ensue too in many circumstances yet I nevertheless sense that dividing the load is excellent everyday, particularly in a residential surroundings..... additionally that way you are able to separate the ammo from the firearms and make an outsider artwork two times as demanding
