Any suggestions for a good extended eye relief scope?
I recently bought a Savage 10FCM scout rifle in .308. Mostly goin to the range, but pig huntin is on the menu in the future. The rifle comes with ghost iron sights which is fine, and fun. I got some quick release rings for it.....
However, the Nikon Monarch variable power eer I got did not have enough relief to give me full view thru scope; and I cannot move the mount forward any further.
Do I have to go with a fixed power scope, a handgun scope, or does Leupold or another company make a variable power eer scope that will work?
Anyone with any specifics or experience would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Check out the Burris 2x7 EER scope. They work great on Contenders. I have a Simmons 2X6 Silver Medal scope on a Win. 94 with a scout mount but I don't think they make them any more. The Burris should give you plenty of eye relief and they are very clear. 2 power is great for close shots and at the range or when you need to take a longer shot the 7 power is plenty. You will lose a little field of view using an EER scope compared to a standard eye relief scope. Good luck with the new rifle. Always remember to wear ear and eye protection and enjoy your new gun.

Oh boy, do I love Savage rifles. I love my 110 in 270 winchester. That being said, when it comes to these two rifles.............get the RUGER. The gunsite is an awesome gun. If I had the money I would get one. I don't have a scout rifle but I would love to buy one. The savage 10fcm is a RETRO made scout rifle. the Ruger is a PURPOSE BUILT scout rifle. FYI
