In Kansas any thing you can hunt with a rifle you can hunt with a hangun.Last deer season I bought a S & W 500 7" barrel and scope and used it. I loved it

alot of states allow you to hunt deer with a handgun. there are minimum caliber requirements, but generally it's a 357 mag and above.

Depends on your state and hunting laws, Some states have a .45 cal limit on size and some allow up .68 cal for blackpowder. Check with your state.
