I can get a stainless steel ar-15 for 500-600 dollars don't ask how or maybe a ak47 for around 300-450 I wan't a medium-long range gun that is very reliable. What would you think because I would like it as a "zombie" gun.

I'm pretty sure I just answered this question a few minutes ago, but...

An AR-15 is more accurate. Requires more maintenance. Has more parts support/longevity.

An AK is built to looser tolerances and more reliable out in the $hit. It costs less, but there is not as much parts support and ammo is not in as high of supply as .223.

You said yourself you want 'reliable.' In that case, I would suggest the AK. You also sound like you don't want to spend a lot of money, which is another advantage to the AK - they're inexpensive. It's not going to be as accurate as an AR though.

If I was marching into combat to fight zombies, I'd grab a 7.62 AK. Big bullet, good stopping power, high reliability. I mean really how accurate does it need to be? If you need more accuracy, get yourself a Remington 700 or an M1-A and shoot from a distance.

For the ak that is only 300 to 450 that would only be an american made one. While yes some aks are very reliable under circumstances like the russian model the american model defuntly wouldn't be. The ar15 would be a better option. Yes, you would jave to clean it from time to time but it does not matter what gun you get you will still have to clean it for it to function propely. Also the ar15 in america is more popular, yea there may be more aks than ar15 but what you have to understand is that the ar would and is sooooo much easier to find parts for than the ak. Also the ar shoots a basic round that is very common in the us and is relatively inexpensive. One more thing is that for an ar 15 if you want to make an upgrade to it it would be very easy because it would be compatible with many scopes, stocks, receivers, lasers, mags and so on that would would be intended for other american assult rifles.

AK47 is the most reliable gun, performs under any conditions. AR15 will jam if not cleaned constantly. Make sure your getting a Russian AK47.

ak-47 hand down other guns may be a little more accurate but ak-47 are the most reliable while still having great accuracy and uses larger 7.62mm ammo so a little better for you range.

Are you an American, or a Russian? M-16,s do not jam, lazy shooters do.

Go with the AR-15. Tales of jamming still linger from the beginning of vietnam, when the wrong powder was used to load the ammunition and clogged the gas tubes. Not much of a consideration these days. Yes the AK is probably more reliable, but I have yet to see one that you could hit a bull in the A$$ with beyond 50 yards. The best I have seen an AK shoot is 3 to 5 inch groups at 100 yds. Almost any garden variety AR-15 will do 1" at that range. The AR has a much flatter trajectory and will make hitting at longer ranges much easier. With proper ammo, the difference in stopping power will not be detectable on anything made of flesh and blood. The AK to me is a collossal ammo waster and noisemaker. Why do you think the most powerful nation in the world uses the AR and has not switched to an AK based weapon if they are so great? The main question here is "Do you want to hit your target with one shot?, or do you want to Spray and pray that some of your rounds connect".
