I'd go with a good used Remington 1100. There are tons of them out there, some designed specifically for skeet shooting. You should be able to find one in good condition for not too much money. A 12 gauge would be the safest bet if you are also going to use it for hunting.

That old Browning A-5 is one sweet shotgun. One of my personal favorites. When I was a kid, my Dad's friend had one that he called the "Meat Stick" because of how much game he shot with it! Unless it has really high collector value, I wouldn't hesitate to use it for skeet shooting -- John Browning designed a tough shotgun and it can take a lot of work.

With that said, the 1100 has great balance and point-ability. You owe it to try one out before you buy a Beretta (also a fine shotgun).

Good luck!

There are literally dozens of options that you can look into. What Ga are you wanting? Most people use a 12Ga, but I have seen 20Ga do pretty good for skeet too.

The main thing about skeet, is it's not like trap. Trap it is more benificial to use a full choke, improved and modified chokes are nice too just not as effective as a full choke.

Skeet is the exact opposite. You are going to want an open choke, and in some places, open chokes are sometimes the only options allowed for skeet.

That was for the Barrel, Now lets get into the different types of shotguns used. Typically, I've seen pumps, O/U's, and Semi's used for both trap and skeet. Pump's are the second most common, but you have to be "on the ball" to get your 2nd shot off. The most common and becoming the most popular is the Semiautomatic. You can get your 2nd shot off almost instantly after your 1st shot. Your timing will still have to be right so you dont unload both shots in the same spot. (some semiauto's have touchy/hair triggers). The best shooters that I have ever seen, use O/U shotguns for both trap and skeet with interchangable chokes. They use O/U's so they have one shot for each skeet target.

As far as brands, Berreta is okay, I personally dont care for them... but the choice is really for you to make. Other options you may take interest in is Browning Citori(spelling?), Ruger Red Label, Mossberg Revelation, or a Franchi for O/U shotguns. Semiautos: Browning, Benelli, Verrona(spelling?) is a new one, Remington and Winchester may have a few. For a pump: Mossberg 500, Remington 870, Savage 30 series, Benelli, Browning(maybe, they haven't really done alot of pumps recently),...there are honestly so many you would have to google them or wikipedia to find them all.

The Remington 1100 is a nice, affordable, reliable semi automatic shotgun. Good for skeet and many other purposes.

If you're feeling up to a challenge, go for a Remington 870 pump shotgun. I have a cylinder bore 18 inch barrel but I can still rack the slide hit the second bird if I'm really in the zone. It's a rewarding thing to hit two birds with a pump when other yahoos are missing with double barrels or semis.

Remington makes excellent hunting rifles. You'll probably want to semi-auto for skeet, unless you're fast with a pump action. You might want to go Mossburg, but don't go any lower than that like an Escort or NEF. Have you considered maybe getting a great deal on a consignment? You can get great shotguns sometimes hardly to never fired for much less than new and they're great shotguns.

i started shooting with a mossberg 500, a pump gun, and i found it hard to nab the second target on the doubles, though it is possible. now i am using a remington 1100, it is a great gun and is much more affordable than a beretta. I also used an 11-87, that is also a great gun to use. indeed mossbergs are cheap, but you get what you payed for.

C'mon, All understanding, you have by no ability shot skeet an afternoon on your existence, have you ever? i'm in basic terms shocked you probably did no longer declare it grew to become into of course a faux image via fact that's winter time and Obama wasn't wearing a jacket.

A good high quality Skeet gun never comes by cheap, unless someone is getting divorced (oh I hated to make that statment).

Try a Ruger Red Lable I have two of those a 20ga. & 12ga. and they meet our needs.
