I was wondering if a skeet choke had a bigger spread than a normal mod. choke that it is in my gun? I am going to skeet shooting try outs and wondered if i could put a skeet choke in there if it would help me hit them easier?

The Skeet 1 chokes are just one step more constricting than Cylinder. Skeet 1 allows a wider, but less dense, pattern than more constricting chokes such as Improved or Modified. I have found that I do notice a big difference between Skeet 1 & Modified.
For skeet shooting Skeet 1 is ideal, in my opinion. Skeet 2 (often known as "Light Modified") splits the difference between Improved & Modified, and in my opinion is not an ideal "Skeet" choke.
And yeah, I have an easier time shooting Skeet with a less constricting choke.

There are actually two Skeet chokes; a Skeet 1 and a Skeet 2. Both are more open than a modified choke. So they would throw a wider pattern than if using a modified choke tube.
I have used everything from modified to cylinder chokes - it didn't help me improve my scores. But that was just me.

Skeet chokes will create a larger spread, but in my time doing competition shooting a modified work just fine.

i use a modified and it works great, a skeet "choke" isnt actually choked at all. the bore actually gets bigger ( at least the ones i have looked at did)
