everyone you ask is going to give a different answer.

There are so many different items and manufacturers that someone will like what ever is out there.

Personally I shoot Martin bows best deal for the money. Smooth, accurate, good let off.

My daughter prefers Hoyt and has placed top 3 in every tournament she has shot in.

My son and husband both shoot Martin also.

I went out and shot every brand and model I could get my hands on before I made a decision as to what I was going to buy. (I started with an Onedia that I picked up at a garage sale for 100.00 and the only reason I changed was because it was just too heavy(the weight of the bow itself) for me.)

If you want to get lots of opinions and see what the newest stuff available is I would recommend checking out this site:

Lots of helpful people and always discussing the newest items available.

My daughter shoots a Martin and I shoot a PSE, both are very good bows. All new compound bows today are very good. The thing is which one are you comfortable with and how much are you willing to spend. You can drop a bundle on a new bow. As far as set up, the best thing I can tell you is what I see and hear from folks that are real good. Arrows: I see both carbon and aluminum being shot by people I consider to be in the know, each having their own argument. Sights: Both my daughter and I shoot Tru Glow single pin (its adjustable) As a hunter safety instructor for the wildlife department the biggest problem I see with people or all ages is trying to use to much draw weight. Everyone wants to shoot 70 pounds for some reason, guess it makes them feel more manly. Pull what you can pull without having to use the breakdown method. Some of the top hunters pull 55 to 60 pounds and kill anything they want to. Remember its the placement of the shot that counts. Happy shooting!!

Mathews bows are all hype, catch us if you can, well guess what they've be caught, i shoot a pse baby g force, it's an old bow but I'm about to buy the new x-force t.s. it has beyond parallel limbs, an ibo speed of330 fps and is 28" axel to axle, i use the trophy ridge in line style sites, and the site picture is so much better, i'm going to go with one of the new drop away rests, just not sure which one yet, and i haven't decided on which arrow yet either, good luck to ya and good hunting.

I hear Ted Nugent has been testing a laser-sight on his ultra-high-tech bows.... I say if he wants the accuracy of a rifle, he should just use a rifle!

Me...I like my Martin/Howatt Mountaineer longbow and feather-fletched Port Orford Cedar arrows -- but I suppose I'll have to replace it someday. Guess I'll just have to break down and get that Hungarian bow from Szalóky:

or the "Buzzard" Hunter (under sub-heading "Avar" bows) from Kassai, or even the "Bear" (listed under sub-heading "Magyar", or Hungarian, bows):

Yeah, I think the "Bear" is the one.... :-D
