So far I have used:
CCI Stingers
CCI Mini Mags
CCI "Shotshells"
Federal Bulk
Remington Golden Bullets
Augila Super Colibri

So far I've only had problems with Stingers,Colibri and one jam with federal.

The Colibri ammo does not cycle the bolt in a 10/22 which is expected, but it also stove pipes and double feeds.

The problems I had with the Stingers was an odd one.
I keep my 10/22 loaded with one in the chamber because we have small varmints, well awhile after I loaded it I unloaded it and the round wouldn't eject from the chamber,so I had to push it out with a cleaning rod.
This happened two or three times, but at the range it runs perfectly.

The Federal had one jam out of probably 125 shots, not to bad.

Great Ammo:

CCI mini mag

CCI Blazer

CCI CB Long

Remington Subsonic

Remington CBee

Winchester T22

Winchester WildCat

Remington Thunderbolt

Eley Target

Peter's

Wolf Match

Federal Match

Federal Champion

American Eagle

Wolf HV

Eley Match

Okay Ammo:

Federal Value Pack

Remington Golden Bullet

crap ammo:

anything aguila

Key:

great: works great, reliable, accurate

okay: cheap and works well enough for plinking or general use

crap: all kinds of problems including inaccurate, inconsistent, unreliable, heavy fouling, squib loads

but I don't have a 10/22. I had one but it jammed, misfired, fte ftf with all my ammo too often so I got rid of it. it was also really inaccurate out of box and even with $500 upgrades later it was still less accurate than any of my other .22's (including pistols). 10/22 is a overpriced, inaccurate unreliable piece of junk also massive money pit.

overall through the years cci mini mags are the most reliable of the high velocity ones .. i like stingers for even more boost but like you they will fail to extract on one of my guns occasionally, i think they develop so much pressure the design of the extractor + the slickness of the nickle case just dont work together well ..

.. federal bulk is ok for basic plinking around but if your into long range targeting they require a different zero than the 'good' stuff like mini mags .. i have more than one .22 so its no big deal. Ive tried a few of the sub sonics and some other brands.

.. for 'shotshell' type ammo the common currently available blue plastic cased stuff totally sucks .. if you want something truly effective get some of the old winchester rat shot with the crimped metal tip.

.. for subsonic i wanted something really quiet for long range effectiveness so tried a few, but what i found was the really quiet stuff wasnt good quality controlled and basically was not accurate at all beyond 25 yards .. i have a pellet gun thats better .. so i went with alittle more power in the 1100fps range, which still pops but no supersonic crack and am currently using gemtech subsonic in a bolt gun for ~1 1/2" accuracy at 80 yards or so .. still searching for the perfect stuff though ..

STINGERS ALL THE WAY. CCI makes the best .22LR ammo I've found, and the Stingers are the most accurate and reliable rounds of the bunch. Mini Mags are close, but Stingers top everything.

Your jamming problem may be an extractor, While your Ruger may be popular, it is well known that they don't hold their factories to the highest standards. That shouldn't be happening though, and I don't think it's ammo related.

Make sure to chamber your first round properly by cycling it up through the mag. I've seen problems arise when you use the drop in method and then slam the breech on it.

CCI blazer has been the most accurate i've had in my 10/22 and I don't remember any failures except when using the 25 round magizine but I blame that on the mag

I use Federal Bulk for plinking/target shooting. And CCI Mini Mags for hunting.

I personally use federal Auto-Match for plinking/target shooting (which is all i use .22's for). as the name sugests, it cycles really well in semi autos, but its not the most accurate out there. it's about as accurate as you would expect bulk pack ammo to be i guess is the way to say it. if i want to test a .22's accuracy though I use CCI's mini-mags.

BTW remington golden bullets suck. lots of FTFs and FTEs

The best stuff I've used were Winchester Super Speed HPs. They shot accurately from a Marlin bolt action and a Ruger MK3 with no malfunctions or misfires.

Each gun is a rule unto itself as to what ammo works best in it.

I have had several that shot CCI Stingers as if they were target ammo.

CCI has always worked the best for me. Bulk Federal while OK, can be problematic.

CCI Blazer is also a very good round. The most accurate round in my rifle is the Wolf Target Match. Expensive when compaired to other rimfire cartridges, but very very accurate.

Federal bulk is the best at meeting my definition of .22 lr. Cheap and relatively reliable and accurate.

I use mostly Federal or CCI's. I've had good success with both.
