I have a Gew 98 and want to know whats the best thing to clean it with. Is modern lube ok or would it attack the wood?
Its kinda old and beat up and I guess it used to be lubed with old motor oil, but it still works ok. What should I use on my gun?

Oh man, I have an awesome gun cleaner. It can take alot out of you, you'd probably work up a sweat using it. But I guarantee it will clean your gun out, it'll be shining.

I have a 44 Magnum that's in sore need of a good cleaning. The problem is it's too big for an ordinary gun cleaner...most cleaners I take it to are only able to clean about 5 or 6 inches of the gun tip and are unable to clean the entire barrel.

SunBunny, is your gun cleaner up to the challenge of a real man's gun? 'Cuz I don't recall ever seeing the whole thing shine!

most any modern gun oil would be good. don't use wd-40. try to keep the oil off the wood, especially where the stock meets the back of the receiver.

I think normal supplies work fine, bore bright, rem oil, patches, brushes, rod, ect.
