That being said -- Lets talk about the Mossberg 100-ATR and Mossbergs 4x4 rifles...
I know nothing about the Mossberg 4x4 bolts actions so cant comment....
I do own a Mossberg 100-ATR in .308 and 30-06.... They are not super accurate but I will say if your on a budget - and want to hunt deer they are perfectly adequate for that.... I have successfully taken deer with mine..... No the 100-ATR will not win you a trophy in a Competition target shoot ---- Yes they will take deer with no problems at reasonable distance's -- I have dropped deer to 175 yards with my 100-ATR so they are quite well suited for that.....
The fit and finish of a 700 is much better than the Mossberg. You may look into a 7mm mag too. It'll shoot a little flatter and may be more versatile. The quality in Remington is much better just in the rifle, but in pretty much all their products, but then again I'm a Remington guy! Believe me you won't be dissapointed.
Good luck!

I would say the Remington 700 is the better choice. It is my rifle of choice. It's not fancy but gets the job done without breaking the bank. I am not a fan of Mossberg and have never owned one of their guns.
Use the Remington if you are thinking about going hunting, you won't be disappointed.

The Remington 700 is a much better choice so long as your not refering to the 710 model which is junk. Also the atr mossberg as far as I'm concerned is also junk due to a friend of mine nearly being killed by one when he was sighting it in the bolt failed and blew back and nearly tore his face completely off, he has had to endure several surgeries to repair a lot of damage but still has a lot of deformity. The gun was a Mossberg ATR 30-06. Not trying to scare any one just want to spread the word. It may never happen again but I won't bet my life on it, So just beware. Get a good remington 700 and you'll be set for life. Good Luck to ya.

The Remington 700 any variant is the better rifle. The Mossberg ATR 100 or their newer 4x4 are bargain rifles. They will get the job done, but offer no frills.

I would say the Remington is the better of the two, even though I am not a big fan of Remington rifles. (since there are other rifles that are better for the same money, and some just as good for less)

I did a lot of research on this and ended up buying a Remington 700 SPS 30-06 and have been very pleased. If you only buy one hunting rifle for North America, that's the one to get.

They are both excellent guns and would serve you well, but from a value/money and investment perspective then you should go with the Remington 700.
You did not mention what you would be hunting? The .30-06 is a very versatile round, but for some game it is way too powerful. Make sure that .30-06 is appropriate for the game in the first place.

That's a tough call. They are both very good. The military uses the Remmington 700, but Mossberg makes very good quality firearms. You couldn't go wrong either way. Buy whatever one you like the feel of. I believe the Remmington 700 is only .308 not 30-06. You could probaly pick up a Mossberg for a lot cheaper than the Remmington 700.
