While it is possible, in most instances, to pump more than 10 times it does no good to do so. You will break the seals in the air chamber and could break the pump handle as well. Most times the excess air just leaks out and does not increase power to any appreciable level so why risk damaging the gun when there is no benefit to doing so? If you need or want a more powerful gun buy one that is more powerful. Don't risk damage to the gun you own or harm to yourself trying to do something the manufacturer tells you will damage their product.

Shoot straight and stay safe.

Back in the day when air guns were powerful, multiple pumps made multiple power. When it got pumped up as high as it would go, you could no longer pump it. At some point the makers decided to downgrade their equipment and fix it so after so many pumps the compressed air would vent. It may be 10 pumps or 12 pumps, but where ever that point is no amount of further pumping will do anything other than put wear and tear on the pump.

You can tell where that point is by pumping the recommended number of times and feeling the resistance of the pump. When the air starts venting, the pressure to pump will lessen.

If you pump a Daisy 880 more than 10 times it can do a couple things. (1. you risk damaging the valves and seals that hold the air which means you have to replace the gun or ship it to Daisy to get repaired.. (2. you risk damaging the pumping lever and pivot which means you have to buy a new gun. (3. you risk valve lock (which will actually reduce your power).

If you're simply curious about what would happen... those instructions are written a certain way for a reason. If you want more power, look into getting a more powerful airgun, likea Crosman 2100 or Benjamin 397.

Not a good idea! It was designed for the pressures of up to 10 pumps. You can pump it a little more, and it will shoot a little "harder" until it starts to leak around the seals. It will eventually leak and not hold a 10 pump charge of air.

It will either do nothing because there is a relief valve for people who insist on over pumping or more likely you will just blow out the O rings. If you want more power, you have no choice other than replace it.

You get diminishing returns with more than 10 pumps and at some point it will rupture.

Durable? Are you shooting or trying to use it as a baseball bat? Just call Daisy. they make the thing.

You will weaken the rubber o-ring seals to the point where it will ruin the gun.
