AR-15 by far. Better accuracy and aftermarket support. More options for customization and magazines are cheaper.

On the small chance this is a legitimate question and not a troll looking to restart one of the most-heated rifle arguments on the planet...

The answer is...it depends on what you want to do with the rifle, and under what conditions you will use it.

I use an AR when accuracy is of utmost importance. I carry a Mini-14 when I must depend on the rifle to save my life no matter what conditions it might be forced to deal with and when I don't know the quality of ammunition it might have to use. It is still more than accurate enough for general purpose non-competition use.

The AR is faster to load/reload and more accurate.

The Mini-14 is plenty accurate and more reliable. It can look as tacticool as you want it, or do the exact same job while looking much like an ordinary hunting rifle; your choice.

I own a few of each and shoot them both regularly.

Your realize your going to start an argument here?... Don't you?......

I own several of both, Both have there strengths and weaknesses....

I prefer the Ruger Mini 14.......

You also didn't ask us --- Better for what?.... The AR15 is better for police and security professionals... Its also more accurate to long distances.....

But the Ruger Mini 14 on the other hand is easier to maintain, feels better across the back on a sling, doesn't creep out other hunters, is more "Polite Looking" and is easier to clear a jamb....

I suppose if your into the Johnny Rambo look then the Ar15 would be best.....

I own many Ar15 rifles and also many Ruger Mini 14 rifles as well, and have for over 25 years.... For my purposes the Ruger Mini 14 is a better gun......

Mini 14. the mini 14 is a cross version between the old m1 garand and the m 16. It is called the mini 14.. go figure. The mini 14 can fire 223 and 5.56 NATO if you get the specific rifle to do so. This is also true with the AR-15. I can't recall and any AR15 which only shot 223 specific without being special made. The mini 14 is also very customizable if you look in the right places. The AR15 can be customized greatly but they use the name to rape the buyers of their money. Go with the mini 14. It is significantly cheaper, can cause the same damage and looks cooler than the plain jane AR15.

Apples and oranges really. Mini 14 is more of a conventional rife. The AR is more of a customizable platform of sorts. The weaknesses of both are the .223 rd, but the AR can be configured to 9mm, .308 etc...

The ar-15 has no more power over the mini if anything it's the other way around. The mini 14 can fire both 223 and 5.56 NATO rounds while the stock ar-15 can only safely fire the 223
