First off you have created a unfavorable situation that only time will remedy.

The chemicals used in this process are strong and the smell will lessen as it cures which may take weeks or months.

Trappers, even on wood use bees wax in its purest form a water proofing and lubrication, for it has no offensive smell that will greatly affect the target wildlife.

The human sent is avoided by exclusion, avoiding getting any on the trap or the ground around the trap.

Trappers use heavy rubber gloves and rubber boots and if they must kneel down to set the trap or prepare the area they carry a rubber may about 4 x4 feet or similar device to kneel on.

There by not coming in personal contact any part of trap or area which will leave human scent behind.

If you do make contact and leave scent behind you must use a cover scent that will not effect the target wildlife. Like a food attractant or the moldy decaying litter in the forest just under the leaves on the ground can also be used as well.

first off find some old barn boards build your rabbit trap out of that. the rabbits like the smell of old barn boards ,forget the water proofing, take some branches of a cedar tree or bush ,roll them up in your hand and rub inside and out, some people use onion.
