steel rain was right.

Yes, you can use +P ammo in the officers model. But you are adding stresses to the pistol that are not needed. The .45acp in standard load, with any of the quality HP ammo available is more than sufficient for your needs. +P Ammo adds more stress to the firearm which requires a stronger recoil spring, but that then won't cycle right with standard ammo, plus it adds wear and tear, adds more felt recoil and more muzzle flash.

Believe me, I am a .45acp fanatic, and I have not used +P ammo in any of my self defense pistols. With the exception of Hornady TAP ammo, but I have one pistol dedicated to just that load, and set up with a 20lb wolf recoil spring and it is a full sized 1911. Also, there are confirmed cases in civil court of defendants who used +P ammo over standard ammo, losing their case and having to pay big $$ to the family of suspects they shot in self defense. A jury can be made up of people who do not understand firearms, and a good attorney can easily convince them that instead of using a regular cartridge, you used a special killer bullet yadda yadda yadda. Stupid, I know, but it happens. Your best bet is to find out what local law enforcement in your area uses and use that cartridge for self defense. It is much more defensible in court.

Mr, how lots have you ever shot your 230 grain Winchesters? i do no longer declare to be an expert, yet you may desire to be extra of an expert on your gun all people else. you have shot your gun better than I actual have. Take 500 (or how ever many it takes so you might experience tender. The extra the extra effectual, yet $$ is a controversy) or so rounds of what you prefer to shoot, and shoot it. If it extremely is no longer good, change. Remington and Hornady make good ammo, yet frankly I doubt one is "a good distance stronger" than the different. XTP's many times are not as aggressive at increasing as others, yet I doubt it concerns lots. i might carry on with what i could desire to purchase in bulk. you will discover on line sites that sell LEO containers of ammo (many times have 50 rounds for the cost of 20 top rate rounds). Sig makes a great gun. you'll be able to desire to understand that handguns are quite underpowered, it extremely is why there's a million distinctive little ameliorations on each thing. If purely one ingredient worked like a phaser, we would all use it. (I advise what proportion distinctive new ameliorations of buckshot are there. . . it hasn't replaced, reason it does not could desire to, yet it extremely is a shotgun with a 18+ inch barrel.) it particularly is genuine the ammo we've on the instant is a lot extra effectual than we had 20 yeas in the past, yet any type call top rate ammo is in all possibility purely as good as the different. do no longer permit people inform you approximately your gun except they advantage it (being a gun smith will possibly no longer count extensive style).

The 1911 can take the +P loads, but you might want to go

to a stiffer spring, especially with that short slide.

Why stress your gun for an extra 50 fps any premium .45 acp ammo is more than sufficient.
