I use to carry a small bag with me. And then I go out & collect rocks because it's free. But take your time picking all the good ones. Choose the ones that are nice & round. After you collect enough for a day of shooting, then you will be good to go. Sometimes I would be out there for as long as one hour just looking for good slingshot ammo. Because the good round ones are more likely to go straight.

When I used to target shoot with a sling shot, we went to the 5 and dime stores to get large bags of marbles or tubes of BBs.

You can still find marbles at the Dollar stores, just you don't get a many as you did in the old days.

As the others have said, small rocks/gravel would be free. Best places to find loose gravel would be gravel roads of course, and old rail lines that have been closed off to trains, and now used for trails.

It's lying all over the ground. You can pick up all you can carry for free. I have shot many different things from slingshots including rocks, cherry pits, marbles, steel shot, buckshot, and hard candies.

Small rocks are easy to find and are very affordable.

If you're in Florida, be careful with that slingshot! State statutes prohibit them. Really!

if you can find them, mouse balls!

schools retiring old equipment you'll find boxes and boxes filled with old mice and mouse balls!

just score the rubber surface and peel it off, you'll get a 19mm 1.01 oz steel ball.

great for muskets or sling shots.

Rocks are free, if you have any aerosol paint cans you can remove a marble from within, that's free.
