2nd amendment rights taken away?

IMO, the 2nd Amendment is the only difference between our gun laws here in the USA, and the gun laws in say, Australia and the UK, where gun ownership is so severely restricted, that basically no ordinary citizen can own/obtain one.

As of right now, it is not politically expedient for any American politician (on the national level anyway) to advocate all-out gun bans. Based on my own experience of late here in California (a totally liberal state, esp with regard to gun laws), many, many, many people seem to be buying up guns, which actually encourages me because now that there are presumably a lot more gun owners, there will be a lot more political friction when it comes time to attempt further confiscatory legislation.

However, what I see from the politicians amounts to an end run on gun bans. They know that taking actual guns away from law abiding citizens is a non-starter, so they go after ammunition. GUn owners need to fight to maintain affordable, reasonable sources of ammunition, and fight against taxation on them, otherwise a box of ammo will cost about the same as a small TV, and very few people will be able to shoot their guns regularly.

As they say my friend, "Your rights are like annoying people, Ignore them and they will just go away." I am a rather avid shooter, and own several guns, of which I depend on, and yes, it's already getting to the point in some areas where gun ownership is getting next to impossible. Thank the BATF (Bullies, A**holes,Thugs, F**kers) for these problems. A Revolution would break out. True Americans would be weeded out from the Masses, we Americans would be the ones to lead America again.

They might be able to limit it due to some obvious reason ( guns grow there own feet and start shooting people) and yes I will go down guns a blazing because a country boy can survive alot more than some city boy.

I agree 100%. I live in the mountains of NC and I'm a hillbilly, and not ashamed to admit it. I'm 36 years old and have owned over 50 shotguns, rifles, and pistols. I think if they tried to take away our guns, another Civil War would break out. I've been hunting for over 20 years. It's a way of life for me. I eat everything I kill, like God intended it. They will not take my gun. That's a fact my friend. I've also been a member of the NRA for a long time and encourage every gun owner to join it as well. 2nd Amendment rights taken away?? Not here bud..

Yes. I'm worried about incremental regulations making gun ownership more restrictive and difficult as time goes on.

If the gun-grabbers get their way, it'll be so yes, we can have guns, but only certain calibers with low capacities, and we must pay a big tax on it and be required to pay a hefty license fee and they must be stored and used only in a licensed gun club.

Yep. Problem is, they won't get taken away all at once, they will be eroded bit by bit until there is little difference between restrictions and all out bans.

That is why liberals are totally fine with terms like "common sense gun control." Common sense means no full autos, right? Then common sense means no semi-auto AK's because they're not for hunting. Then common sense means ANY gun not used for hunting, including pistols. Soon enough, it will be common sense that "commandos" out hunting in the woods should be outlawed too. Common sense means no guns at all.

Taken away, no. Eroded, maybe. Altered from what the Founding Fathers intended, already happened.

There is a very good chance that within the next 5 years there will be no more second amendment and if New World Order comes in effect and Martial law you will be screwed.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Democrat and member of the so-called Blue Dog Coalition, plans to introduce an assault weapons ban this week. Gillibrand, the junior senator from New York, was at one time highly rated by the NRA for her advocacy of the Second Amendment.

featured stories Former Top Rated NRA Senator to Introduce Gun Ban This Week

Newsday claims Gillibrand has “undergone a transformation” over the last three months and has moved away from “her House record that won the NRA’s top rating while remaining a supporter of Second Amendment rights to gun ownership.” Since her Senate appointment, she has “passed just about every test on guns set by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy,” who reintroduced a bill closing the so-called gun-show loophole at a news conference last week.

It appears likely Ms. Gillibrand was a gun-grabber all along and used the Second Amendment as an election ploy. Polls indicate a large percentage of voters strongly support the Second Amendment.

McCarthy’s bill, H.R. 6676, would utilize the National Instant Criminal Background Check System for background checks on all gun store employees and dealers. In addition to H.R. 6676, three other bills have been offered including laws that would make it illegal for known or suspected terrorists to buy guns.

Obama Announces Gun Ban Agenda

Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign slogan, “the audacity of hope,” should have instead been “the audacity of deceit.” After months of telling the American people that he supports the Second Amendment, and only hours after being declared the president-elect, the Obama transition team website announced an agenda taken straight from the anti-gun lobby–four initiatives designed to ban guns and drive law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers out of business:

“Making the expired federal assault weapons ban permanent.” Perhaps no other firearm issue has been more dishonestly portrayed by gun prohibitionists. Notwithstanding their predictions that the ban’s expiration in 2004 would bring about the end of civilization, for the last four years the nation’s murder rate has been lower than anytime since the mid-1960s. Studies for Congress, the Congressional Research Service, the National Institute of Justice, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found no evidence that gun prohibition or gun control reduces crime. Guns that were affected by the ban are used in only a tiny fraction of violent crime-about 35 times as many people are murdered without any sort of firearm (knives, bare hands, etc.), as with “assault weapons.” Obama says that “assault weapons” are machine guns that “belong on foreign battlefields,” but that is a lie; the guns are only semi-automatic, and they are not used by a military force anywhere on the planet.

“Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment.” The amendment–endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police–prohibits the release of federal firearm tracing information to anyone other than a law enforcement agency conducting a bona fide criminal investigation. Anti-gun activists oppose the restriction, because it prevents them from obtaining tracing information and using it in frivolous lawsuits against law-abiding firearm manufacturers. Their lawsuits seek to obtain huge financial judgments against firearm manufacturers when a criminal uses a gun to inflict harm, even though the manufacturers have complied with all applicable laws.

“Closing the gun show loophole.” There is no “loophole.” Under federal law, a firearm dealer must conduct a background check on anyone to whom he sells a gun, regardless of where the sale takes place. A person who is not a dealer may sell a gun from his personal collection without conducting a check. Gun prohibitionists claim that many criminals obtain guns from gun shows, though the most recent federal survey of convicted felons put the figure at only 0.7 percent. They also claim that non-dealers should be required to conduct checks when selling guns at shows, but the legislation they support goes far beyond imposing that lone requirement. In fact, anti-gun members of Congress voted against that limited measure, holding out for a broader bill intended to drive shows out of business.

“Making guns in this country childproof.” “Childproof” is a codeword for a variety of schemes designed to prevent the sale of firearms by imposing impossible or highly expensive design requirements, such as biometric shooter-identification systems. While no one opposes keeping children safe, the fact is that accidental firearm-related deaths among children have decreased 86 percent since 1975, even as the numbers of children and guns have risen dramatically. Today, the chances of a child being killed in a firearm accident are less than one in a million.

Homeland Security Labels Gun Owners as Terrorists

A Department of Homeland Security intelligence assessment equates gun owners with violent terrorists and states that radical extremists are “stockpiling” weapons in fear of an Obama administration gun ban.

This newly uncovered document is just the latest in a long sordid line of training manuals in which the federal government characterizes millions of American citizens as potentially violent terrorists who are a threat to law enforcement. The document is titled: Right Wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.

The document states that the election of an African-American president and the economic downturn have acted as “unique drivers for right wing radicalization and recruitment,” adding that, “The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms….could lead to the emergence of terrorist groups….capable of carrying out violent attacks.”

The DHS is essentially claiming that people who are concerned about the Obama administration’s plans to curtail the second amendment, and by extension anyone who owns guns or who has purchased guns in response to such a scenario, is a potential violent terrorist.

The bulk purchasing of ammunition is labeled “stockpiling” and “hoarding” to create the myth that people who buy bullets are storing them for some kind of violent revolutionary attack. The document also claims that people who buy guns and ammunition are also right wing extremists engaged in “paramilitary training,” a bizarre claim backed up with no evidence whatsoever.

Leaked... HUGE Proposed Gun Ban List!

1. S&W sales

With bans on AR-15 and AR-15-styled rifles to the public expected under the Obama administration (see gun-ban lists below), Smith and Wesson has just announced expansion of that market, with the sale of 275 of its M&P15 rifles to the Chicago police department. http://tinyurl.com/742qre

Chicago, president-elect Obama’s home town, has virtual bans on handguns and strict repressive limits on long guns, but police are excluded and criminals blithely ignore the provisions.

The M&P15 strongly resembles the AR-15, a high quality, semi automatic long gun used by the U.S. military and the public for decades. What the Chicago police expect to do with 275 of the guns, vilified as assault weapons by the lamestream media, was undisclosed. Assault, it has been noted, is a type of behavior, not a type of hardware.

In other news, the Minnesota State Patrol has purchased 90 of the high-quality M&P15 firearms, which retail for more than $1,000 each.

In still other news, actor David Spade donated $100,000 to the Phoenix police department, to buy 50 new AR-15 rifles made by Colt, an S&W competitor. Spade was apparently moved by a “news” broadcast that said Phoenix officers had to buy their own rifles due to lack of funding, and he wanted to help them out.

2. Gun-ban list proposed

Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Bradys plan to introduce shortly.

I have an outline of the Brady’s current plans and targets of opportunity, I’m working on getting that news out asap after these ban lists, probably be ready in the next few days. It’s horrific. They’re going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They’ve made little mention of criminals.

Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. See what 250 of your peers thought during our recent Bill of Rights Day event at the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix.
