Do you have a reloading manual? Have you read it?

Somehow, I think you should give up reloading if you can't figure this one out on your own. All .223 Remington cartridges use a .224" bullet.

You probably shouldn't, yet. Re-read your manual first. When you learn to handload, you'll find your answer. The 223 Remington cartridge is one of the many cartridges that normally use .224" bullets. In general, the 22 caliber centerfire cartridges, from 218 Bee to 225 Winchester, all use the same .224" diameter bullets. The different designations don't imply different bullet diameters but are meant to avoid that sort of confusion, though the unfortunate consequence is to produce the kind of confusion you've encountered.

Now you can do a little more research: other than 22 Savage High-Power, what other 22 caliber centerfire does NOT use .224" bullets? When you can answer that, then you're ready to handload.

if you had a reloading manual, you'd know .224 bullets are the ones you're *supposed* to use!

please, don't start reloading or buying components until you picked up some sort of official reloading manual.

or if you buy Lee die sets, they'll come with a little table for some basic loads that lists the bullet and powder you need to get started

Those of you knocking George for asking the question, are the reason people get hurt. He clearly knows how important it is to be correct with everything we reload & he is seeing the diff in the numbers.223 & .224. People who don't ask questions or think they know it all can take a hike!

Yes. The common bullet diameter of the vast majority of .22 caliber centerfire cartridges is .224".

We were all new to reloading at one time. I think it is pathetic that you are ripping on George.
